I'm glad each morning when I rise.

I'm glad for the breath and health inside.

I'm glad I can hear the birds sing and musical sounds.

I'm glad for the inner peace I've found.

I'm glad I can see sunsets, faces, trees and rain.

I'm glad I'm getting stronger and overcoming my pain.

I'm glad I can feel and touch my loved ones.

I'm glad I can smell flowers and food in the oven.

I'm glad I live under God's mercy and grace.

I'm glad I'm giving up this stressful race.

I'm glad for each precious day and hour.

I'm glad because of Him, I have power.

I'm glad I'm growing and opening up my mind.

I'm glad that things do get better with time.

I'm glad when others are pleasant and give me a smile.

I'm glad for what I'm learning each miracle mile.

I'm glad to know God's light and strength are inside of me.

I'm glad to know His love sets me free.

I'm glad to learn to let go of worry, anger, self-pity and mess.

I'm glad because now I know...I'm too blessed to be stressed.

SANDY’S BLOG – “God is so good!  Let me say it again, God is so Good!!!  My December was better than my November!  I had a great time in Dallas for 3^rd Saturday honoring my friends’ birthdays (Judi Wright, Bernadette Smith and Lynn Page). Judi and I went down on Thursday just to dance at the Kliff Klub!  I do not care that it may be a hole in the wall (most of the best clubs to be at are) it is the place to find the best male dancers in all of DFW Metro!  I love you, Barbara Marshall, Swingout Instructor for the Kliff Klub, for all you do!  You are the best.  On Friday night everyone was in town and dressed all up to attend the Wendell B Concert and Dance at the new 1010 Collins Entertainment Center!  It was fantastic.  Thank you Kelam Wilkes, love you also!  On Saturday we attended DFW 3^rd Saturday Swing Event and danced all night!  Houston and Austin was strong in the place and Oklahoma had about 15 people!  Ain’t no party like a Brigitta & Starr Party!  Thank you guys and you know I love you!!!  On Friday, December 23, 2011 the Jazzee Js hosted our annual Christmas Party and Jazzee Jewel Diana’s house!  The house was packed and we danced, ate and open presents until after 2 am!  Thank you Dee, you are the greatest and I love you!. 

I spent the Christmas Eve home alone just watching television and wrapping gifts for my family.  Christmas morning, I gathered up all the presents and went to my children, Sly and Cassandra, house to have brunch and exchange gifts!  I gave mostly money so they could buy their own presents!  I used to love to shop but not anymore, I just give money and I know what they pick out will be something they want or need and not something I want them to have!  I received some wonderful gifts from my children (Cassandra/Sly, Derek/Brandi and Dustin) and I love you more than life itself!!!  One of my precious gifts included a ticket round trip to DC/VA!  Thank you Rodney and Stephanie and I love you more!

My first trip to DC was extraordinary.  Thinking about it brings more tears to my eyes!  I did a lot of crying while I was there, I felt like I had been there before and I was finally home!  My friend, Jax tha Stepper, made sure I was in contact with all the right people and I was driven around to take pictures, shop, eat (especially at OMG Café and Lounge in Richmond, VA), dance, visit plantations and just enjoy the beautiful scenery!  The history of that part of the country is the greatest!  You can almost feel your ancestors touch and talk to you!  I was totally overwhelmed when I saw the plantations that were hidden by trees and gates locked so you could not visit them but you know me, where there is a will there is a way!  I sat on the wooden swing and cried just trying to understand!  I know I had been there before!

While in DC I visited the ML King Monument and the White House.  The monument is beautiful and it touched my heart just walking around reading all of Dr. King’s quotes on the wall surround the monument.  Afterwards, I went to the White House and asked if I could visit with President Barack Obama and the guard had the nerves to laugh!  He said the President was on vacation for the holidays (yea right)!  I did try!!!!!  Saturday night I attended the Positive Black Men Coalition Red Carpet Event featuring Roy Ayres and Chuck Brown (he sings Chucky Baby and I was cutting up!).  It was an enjoyable evening with Dr. John and Linda Porter!  Thank you all especially, Jax, for a wonderful vacation & a happy New Year!  I love you and will see you again real soon!
